The first three Wednesdays of every month follow this format, but the 4th and the occasional 5th Wednesdays alternate between service projects and fun nights.
Mentor Program: Here at the nest we firmly believe that teens need adults who will invest in their lives in order to grow in their faith. Each teen who signs up is assigned a group and a mentor (a background checked, New Baltimore Community Church regular attender who is mature in Christ) who will simply hangout with them, talk with them, take them out to eat, study scripture with them, and simply be there for them. Sometimes it is as simple as hanging out and watching the Superbowl, but other times it’s as intense as raising funds to build wells in Africa. So, check out our Youth News to get an idea of the nest’s happenings.
Well, it is not so much a “thing” as it is a “we.” This is because, we (the nest) are a group of teens (6th through 12th grade) and leaders who come together to have fun, fellowship, worship, serve, and learn IN CHRIST. We do this in a bunch of ways, so lots of stuff goes on throughout the year in the nest, but just a few are road trips, missions trips, glow night, service projects, overnighters, capture the flag, Skymax, Christmas Party, making movies, concerts, Youth Explosion, over-sized slip ‘n slides, the weirdest games you will ever play, worship, camp fires, small groups, a lot of sports, pool parties, Lakeside Chautauqua, and studies. We start at 6PM and end at 8PM and meet every week! It can be hard to predict what will happen on any given Wednesday, but we usually start with a slightly crazy game, followed by some awesome worship, then we dig into some scripture, and finally we either just hang out or amuse ourselves with some type of game (note: the word “game” is being used in it’s loosest sense).
Wednesday Night @ the nest: This is probably our most relaxed night.
All total there are over 60 years of experience our teachers have in Early Childhood Education at a licensed center.
